The ban has irked the cast and crew of Phantom to quite an extent. Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who plays the protagonist agent who battles Pakistani forces in Phantom, stated earlier that he found it funny how a terrorist like Hafiz Saeed could go to court in Pakistan. Director Kabir Khan has also voiced the same sentiment and said in a new statement that he was ‘amused’ at Hafiz Saeed’s action.
“Whenever there is a political backdrop, the film will be banned in the other country. Our topic is not about the ban on the film, but we are amused that a terrorist has gone and filed a petition that we are spreading poison against Pakistan. There has been no reaction like this, then why Hafiz Saeed’s extremist views are being projected louder than a common man,” said Kabir Khan whilst he spoke with reporters.
“Political organisations are supporting Hafiz Saeed or else how the petition of such a terrorist is being heard. Hafeez needs to realize what he has done, and who is he to question or rather go against our films,” added Kabir. Hafiz Saeed had sought a ban on Phantom, when he had filed a petition against the flick in Lahore High Court on 8th August. This is also what the JuD chief had tweeted a couple of days ago:-
